What is it about a fire that draws, sucks, lures and beckons us toward the fatal flames? The desire to feed the source coupled with the sensibility to douse it out once it’s served its purpose or delivered its destruction.
I have no poignant answers.
Just a torch and a camera.
“You kindled me, heap of ashes that I am, into fire. He had wondered once why love was always phrased in terms of burning. The conflagration in his own veins, now, gave the answer.”
― Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Princess
“They say a good love is one that sits you down, gives you a drink of water, and pats you on top of the head. But I say a good love is one that casts you into the wind, sets you ablaze, makes you burn through the skies and ignite the night like a phoenix; the kind that cuts you loose like a wildfire and you can’t stop running simply because you keep on burning everything that you touch! I say that’s a good love; one that burns and flies, and you run with it!”

Happy Friday, my friends!
Stealing content from my photography site for today’s post.
Enjoy the fire, stay safe and don’t play with matches.
Leave that up to me 😉
These have got to be the best fire photos I’ve ever seen.
I have over 100 of them from two separate fires. The darned lens still can’t capture the entire essence, so I’m glad you saw some beauty in them.
(the marshmallows were yummy, too!)
Of a night…around a camp fire…it mesmerises, holds and slowly draws you in, like a moth to a light. I wonder…maybe it IS that inbuilt compass…to be drawn to the light.
Be good MamaMick, you may be lost to it too. Or is it too late? 🙂
You make me laugh!
No losses here…just an appreciation for that slow Spring burn and the need to get rid of the brush piles that multiplied over a very long winter 🙂
As always, thanks for stopping by and providing such thoughtful comments.
So, Spring has sprung. You guys get to have all the fun. Enjoy the new season 🙂
I’ve always had a fascination with fire, though not (quite) an unhealthy one.
Love your note, El Guapo.
You are always so kind to stop and comment.
Thanks for the kind words. Happy Friday!
Me, too! I have a fascination with fire. The raw beauty and power of it. The quick, utter destruction. One of my favorite first lines in a book is: “It was a pleasure to burn.”
Thank you so much, Mary!
It’s finally Spring here…my pages will likely be filled with photos of flowers very soon.
Beautiful photos! I never seem to capture fire the way I want to with a camera. In your pics, I can nearly feel the heat. Cool words to go along too…
Thank you so much, Kristen!
I know what you mean by being unable to “capture’ it all–seems that way with so many things I want to photograph–landscapes, water, trees, night skies. I just keep trying!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I thought your response was really awesome, too “nearly feel the heat” followed by “cool words.” I just love little nuances like that 🙂
not sure if i already told you or not , but i tagged you in a post this morning, if you want to play along you should check it out
Ooooh cool! I haven’t seen it yet! Is it in on your site? I’ll check it out when I get home later 🙂
yep, titled tag get to know me
That sounds really fun! Thanks for thinking of me. I will definitely participate. 🙂
