Fingers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Larger than life
Less sure than me
about
what to keep
or throw away

Sinew and bone
Nails bit to the nub
warm skin
his tips on mine

I can’t breathe and would gladly quit
if not breathing meant
we could stay
like this

Accepting and Rejecting
Yearning and yeilding
Blocking and tackling
Rejecting and returning
He returns every time

Pulling me in with
sensual traces
curves and lines
Pushing me away
with our shared breath

I inhale his
while he exhales mine

Time passes
my fingers

coax him back
so I quit breathing
and pull him to me

He lets me
read in
and between
his lines

Finally

I’m not scared
to
touch his fingers
and breathe
again

  1. Daaaaaaannnnngggg….you’re a triple threat, aren’t you?? And maybe more.
Your photography is fantastic (you know that already) and your poetry is slamming and tender and vibrant AND you bring people together in the kindest and most open of ways. You make people feel good about themselves – and your art, both in digital film and words, reflects that.

Thank you for being you and thank you for this work. Beautiful.

    Paul

    • Oh my goodness, Paul…I’m speechless in response to your kind words.
I kinda snuck this one in today and was really just trying it out. Actually nervous that someone would notice. Aren’t we crazy that way? See me–please don’t notice!!!
You are always such a positive force in my space. You help me be brave 🙂
Bless you many times dear Paul
      Xo

  2. I can’t seem to decide what’s more beautiful, the picture or the poem. You’re fabulous. You know that, right?

    • YOU are the fabulous one!
I’ve been thinking of you often and know that you have some great articles waiting to be read by me!
      And a WEDDING!! ah!
But, thank you. I was REALLY nervous to put this out there–first poem I’ve ever written, so your words truly do mean the world to me–as does your friendship.
      xo

  3. Oh wow! Seriously Michelle, that is beautiful. I’m so very glad you posted it 🙂 xo

    • Awww…thanks! It ain’t CK quality, but it’s a start, right?
Amazing how long I fiddled with it–at that rate, I’ll be able to write one poem every 11 months 🙂
      xo

      • Seriously, some of mine take weeks before they’re allowed out lol One took a year and still hasn’t been seen 😉

Never, never say it ain’t CK quality, it’s only style differences and this has just as much quality as any of mine. Truly. XO

  4. That’s breathtaking.
    So beautiful hon. More please.

  5. Sorry to bother you but can you tell me how to do a pingback

    • Never a bother my friend!
It’s the same way you do a hotlink and works very slick:
*Go the article you want to ping and highlight the url address and click copy or Ctrl C
*Go back to your post and highlight the word you want to hide the post behind (for example, on my travel post, I highlighted “heartwarming” for your story)
*Click the little icon above your post that looks like a little chain link
*When the window pops up, click paste or Ctrl P and then the button on the bottom right
That’s how I pinged your article for my post on Monday. If you have problems, just let me know 🙂

What's on your mind?
