A Dream of Trees
There is a thing in me that dreamed of trees,
A quiet house, some green and modest acres
A little way from every troubling town,
A little way from factories, schools, laments.
I would have time, I thought, and time to spare,
With only streams and birds for company,
To build out of my life a few wild stanzas.
And then it came to me, that so was death,
A little way away from everywhere.
There is a thing in me still dreams of trees.
But let it go. Homesick for moderation,
Half the world’s artists shrink or fall away.
If any find solution, let him tell it.
Meanwhile I bend my heart toward lamentation
Where, as the times implore our true involvement,
The blades of every crisis point the way.
I would it were not so, but so it is.
Who ever made music of a mild day?
I love this. Your picture is amazing. I’ve always said that if there is such a thing as reincarnation, I hope I come back as a tree; a tree far, far away from humankind.
Oh serendipity and synchronicity…I was right in the middle of an e-mail to you when your kind words buzzed on my phone.
This is my favorite tree. The post I’m putting on Christy’s site on Wednesday is full of this tall giant. If you have time, you should peek…you might see something on there familiar 😉
xo
I will for sure peek. AND, I’m not the least bit surprised about the synchronicity and serendipity. It happens to dang often with us, LOL. ❤
I have always had an obsession with weeping willows, for some reason I feel so at peace when I am near one. Great post : )
Me, too Diana!
I have no weeping willows at my house, but grew up with one on the farm. I still think fondly of that tree.
Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Beauuuuutiful picture! And serendipitous for me too – I’m just about to have a new photo done for my website and I feel I need to be standing next to a tree (to give the energy of roots, solidity, growth and layers to underscore my work. Cool post and great timing! 🙂
Yessss!!!! I could feel the tree in your spirit. How crazy, huh? Just wait till you see the picture I took for your poem. I had a very specific vision, but was a bit limited with equipment. Nonetheless, I think you will identify 🙂
Is it too soon to declare my undying love for you 😉
Lol!!! I knew you could sense a lot more than you let on :-). I love trees; they are so a part of me. I live by the sea at the moment (for which I am very blessed), but always gravitate towards the trees in the park when I need some grounding connection. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the picture you have taken.
And I believe this world can NEVER have too many declarations of undying love… so I add mine for you into the rivers and streams of universal love and consciousness. Yay!!!
By the way, I sense a lot of elemental spirit (faeries & nature spirits) within and around your soul. 🙂
Tee! Hee! You are GOOD! I keep hoping to find a pair of gauzy glittery wings hidden under a stone somewhere 😉
