in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles far and wee
and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it’s
spring
when the world is puddle-wonderful
the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing
from hop-scotch and jump-rope and
it’s
spring
and
the
goat-footed
balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee
Beautiful! I don’t know any cummings, but I enjoyed that.
Thanks friend! I had to tag you cuz you inspired my Springy attitude today 🙂
Somewhere Jennie is smiling. She loves cummings. 🙂
Yay! Once I resisted the urge to correct the punctuation, I was good!
I saw your rose pictures on twitter…ah Spring. New life and healing.
xo
Bahaha! My favorite part of cummings when I was a teen was his total lack of following grammatical rules, I found it a great argument for why I didn’t have to either! (my teachers however did not find me amusing at all! How odd, right?)
I need to read more of him. There’s something delightful about no periods (double entendre intended!)
I love him, he was one of my childhood favorites; him, Eliot, Shakespeare and Poe. Which right there probably explains a lot!
(LOL!)
I love E. E. Cummings sooooo much – and any other poet who dares to challenge the conventionality of language. “Mud-Luscious” gives me goose bumps!
Hi Kerry!
I love the language of Mud-Lucious, too. I’ve just started reading some of him again…makes more sense now that I’m all “grown up.”
Always have loved this poem! And what lovely pictures to go with it! I love poetry, it’s wonderful to be able to describe something in so much detail, I always think of haikus and how magical they are.
I WISH I could write poetry. I think it’s absolutely beautiful, too.
I saw your sunset pic…beautiful!!
